Bacon and cheese pinwheels

An old family favourite, you can’t go wrong with a crispy pinwheel. They are great as a snack with drinks or even a light lunch.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 8 slices streaky bacon
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese

  1. Heat oven to 200⁰ C. Grease a baking sheet well.
  2. Whisk egg and water in small bowl, set aside.
  3. Unfold pastry sheet on lightly floured surface. Brush with mayonnaise.
  4. Lay slices of bacon onto puff pastry.
  5. Sprinkle with cheese and chopped onion.
  6. Start at short side and roll tightly into a log shape. You can start on the long side and roll, this way you will get smaller snack size pinweels.
  7. Cut into 16-18 slices.
  8. Lay flat on baking sheet. Brush with egg mixture.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
