We focus on a LIVING ROOM for this issue of HouseFinder.
THE PROJECT
Our client, a female residing in Swakopmund, commissioned 3D renderings in preparation for a future renovation of her living room. The design brief called for a space filled with jewel tones, boldness & maximalism.
THE STYLE
Bold, Art Deco/Retro-glam style with jewel tones: This style blends the drama and sophistication of Art Deco with the opulence of retro-glam design. Characterised by deep jewel tones such as emerald green, sapphire blue, ruby red and gold accents, the look embraces bold contrasts and luxurious finishes.

REQUIREMENTS

Transform the whole space completely with new furniture.

Remove the cupboards/cabinets & place a piano.

Replace the BBQ with a fireplace.

Add a dropped ceiling to the space.

SOLUTION
I set out to create a space that radiates boldness and elegance, allowing my client to feel bold yet sophisticated.

Finishes & colours: The walls are wrapped in rich, patterned Art Deco wallpaper with deep jewel tones. Dark painted walls and luxurious ruby red curtains add contrast and depth, while gold accents and statement lighting elevate the glamorous atmosphere.

Furniture & layout: Plush emerald-green sofas and armchairs form the heart of the room, accented with bold jewel-toned and patterned cushions. Sleek, reflective coffee tables with gold finishes, while a black piano and statement lighting pieces add layers of glamour.

Jewel-toned décor items: Framed geometric and Art Deco-inspired artworks, bold patterned cushions, sculptural vases and dramatic lighting reinforce the glamorous atmosphere.

Textiles & accessories: Velvet cushions and dramatic curtains heighten the luxurious mood. Statement lighting, including a sculptural Art Deco-inspired lamp, reinforces the retro-glam aesthetic, while metallic accents and glossy finishes tie the look together.
