Crafting Calm with your own Incense Burner
Crafting Calm with your own Incense Burner
Nothing like a splash of yellow combined with your favourite aroma to brighten up any day this autumn.WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Paint in Dulux Colour of the Year: True Joy (I used Acrylic PVA).
- Paint brush
- Plaster of Paris (available from craft stores)
- Wood block (cut to preferred size)
- Metal spoon
- Stencil
- Tea candle
- Wax melts or incense oil
- Wood spade bit, 40 mm
- 2x wood screws
- Drill
- Hammer
- Sandpaper (optional)
- Scraper

Step 1
Flatten spoon handle tip with hammer (use a cloth if you don't want to damage the handle).
Drill 2 holes for the screws in the handle.
*Be careful, the handle gets really hot! Wait a few minutes for it to cool down.

Step 2
Measure the length of the wood block and spoon to determine where to bend the spoon at a right angle. Mine was 10 cm.

Step 3
Measure placement of the candle so it is centre under the spoon.
Use the wood spade to cut a circle – not too deep – to easily remove the candle.

Step 4
Sand the wood block if necessary.

Step 5
Apply 2 coats of paint.

Step 6
Mix the Plaster of Paris, if not premixed, and apply it using the stencil and a scraper.
Once dry, sand with fine grit sanding paper to smooth any rough edges.
Apply another coat of paint.

Step 7
Attach the spoon to the wood block with 2 screws (to prevent it from rotating).

Step 8
Make sure it is level before tightening the screws completely!

Final
Enjoy a moment of true joy, especially on rainy days!
