Fireplace and Living Room Revamp
Fireplace and Living Room Revamp
The Project- Our client wants a total revamp of her fireplace and living room/entrance area.
- She asked for something new, fresh and modern.
- However, she wanted to keep the ceiling fan, the grey accent wall and the pillar in the foyer.
- No structural changes may be done to the walls.
- She has a few gold and mustard décor items she wants to reuse, however she asked for some suggestions on new décor items.
Solution
- Replace the whole fireplace with a standard built-in unit featuring a plastered wall finished with cemcrete for a clean, modern look.
- Add some new furniture and décor items.
- Break the white, cream and beige with pastel pink and mustard/gold accents.
- Bring in raw, natural materials for the shelves and add a subtle white wallpaper.
- Choose a funky chair/ottoman for the reading nook and add a modern floor lamp. A small rug is always a good idea.
- Add the pink console table to contrast with the darker, grey wall. This ties together with the neutral colours of the furniture and fireplace, giving the space a lighter, playful look.
- The space creates an ambience of peace and subtlety.
Lighter colours in interior design can create a welcoming, soothing and visually appealing environment for the people who live there. This is evident in this month’s Refresh Restyle session.
