Household contents will not be paid for if there are no signs of forcible and violent entry. N$20 000 or more is considered good coverage.
High-risk items
Items with particular value, such as jewellery, watches, works of art, cameras and TV sets, should take priority. The correct value of the items is crucial in determining the insurance you need. Insurance companies place an overall limit on such high-risk items. If items were stolen from your home, yet there are no signs of forcible and violent entry, you need to prove that an event of theft occurred. However, we recommend that you specify smart devices under the “All Risks” section of the policy.
Electricity failures
Power surges often cause accidental damage to electrical and electronic equipment and a good coverage would be N$30 000 a year.

Damage by pets is not usually covered.

Outdoor goods
Cover for theft of items designed to be left outdoors should be in the region of N$30 000 in a 12-month period. This is for items relating to your patio, swimming pool and garden.
