Land & Sea / Fashion & Candy
Land & Sea / Fashion & Candy
To kick off 2026, I drew inspiration from the Plascon Colour Forecast 2026 for these renderings. My goal is to show our readers how the same living room can be styled into two completely different looks, simply by changing the paint colours, furniture and décor elements.
THE PROJECT
I made use of the colour palette “Land & Sea” and “Fashion & Candy” from the Plascon Colour Forecast 2026.
As described by Plascon:
Land & Sea: “Rooted in earth and water textures, the Land + Sea palette embraces natural materials and biophilic influences.”
Fashion & Candy: “Here, the colours are vibrant, eclectic and bold. Inspired by street style, nightlife and pop culture.”
THE STYLE
Land & Sea: Contemporary-eclectic style: I used modern furniture, with very bold colour combinations, unusual shapes and signature décor pieces.
Fashion & Candy: Modernism, contemporary & playful: I focused on non-traditional forms; a room filled with fun experimental colour blocking, unusual décor pieces & furniture. The design of the chair in the corner is inspired by Gerrit Rietveld (Dutch furniture designer), known as the “Red and Blue Chair.”

SOLUTION FOR LAND & SEA
Paint colours: My choice fell on African Mud O2-E1-1 for the accent wall, to resemble the soil colours of the earth, accompanied with Bashful Blue B3-C1-4 for the other walls in the room.
Furniture: I drew my furniture inspiration from the colour Daily Lily Dream O2-A1-1 for the bold orange dining chairs and the wall-seat. The statement console table matches nicely with the paint colour Sparkling Lemon Lime Y6-A1-1. To balance out all the bold colours, I placed a cream table in the middle of the room, (think of a wave crashing on the sand, the blue waters separated by a cream foam from the land).
Décor items: The green rug represents the grass of the earth, it ties in with the plants and the green landscape painting on the wall. The curtains create a forest feeling, just like green trees hugging you, creating warmth.

SOLUTION FOR FASHION & CANDY
Paint colours: For the accent wall I used Eclaire R7-D1-1 and for the other walls, White Maas Y2-A2-2. It is like adding lipstick to a pale face.
Furniture: The dining room table & chairs were inspired by Bellagio Blue B6-B2-1 and Ginger Biscuit O1-C1-1. To focus on the modernism aspect, I placed a chair, inspired by Gerrit Rietveld, in the corner of the dining room. The console table, in its playful shape, adds to the red tones in the room. The room evokes the whimsy of a candy shop, bursting with vibrant colours, unusual shapes and eye-catching décor that invites the mind to explore and be inspired.
Décor items: A curated mix of playful, sculptural décor pieces that enhances the candy-inspired palette, a geometric pink cat, a funky mirror accompanied by a pop art painting of a cat turning into a fish. Don’t you agree that it simply looks trendy?! A bright yellow planter for a bold contemporary pop is the cherry on the cake. The artwork on the brown wall is perfectly in line with the latest interior trend of matching large and small paintings.
