Let Lic Pool check your lazy pool cleaner

Let Lic Pool check your lazy pool cleaner

With Spring in the air, you may be looking forward to lazy pool days, but you’re feeling apprehensive about what is going on underneath your swimming pool’s cover. In what state will the pool be when you open up? For your sake, we hope all is well. But it might not be...

How to ensure your pool cleaner is working overtime every day

Often people leave their pool cleaners below the covers in the pool during winter. Due to the pipes being curled up in a certain position in the cold water over a long period, the pipes tend to be stuck in this curled position. The result is that the pool cleaner has cleaned only a certain section of the pool. To solve this, disconnect all pipes and reinsert them all, in different places from skimmer to pool cleaner.

Check the rubber foot piece of the pool cleaner for correct fitment. If it feels sticky, it is most probably because excessive chlorine content in the pool has started to affect the rubber.

Don’t fall for cheap advice or products. There are various pool cleaners on the market. We work with them every day and we know which ones are cheap knockoffs sold by non-pool shops and which pool cleaners will work best in a particular pool. The positioning of the pool weight on the pipe is vital to ensure the pool cleaner does climb the walls of the pool.

Make sure the suction pipes are in a good condition. If they have any holes, the pool cleaner will not
work as water is now being sucked in through the holes instead of through the sucking mechanism. Again, cheap suction pipes will not last very long.

How old is the filter sand? Old and dirty filter sand will result in a low suction pressure from the pump. If your pool cleaner seems to be very sluggish, it could be time to replace the filter sand.

So, before you fire your lazy pool cleaner and look around for a so-called special, let Dr Lic come to your rescue. Rather bring it to the Lic Pool shop. We will test it free of charge. It might only need replacement of a small part and your pool cleaner will be able to clean the pool for the next season.

All’s well that ends well!
