Ek was nog altyd ’n voorstaander van springclean... Elke jaar kom daar ’n tyd vir sorteer, wegpak, regpak en uitsmyt. Almal wat voorkom, moet koes of hulle land ook in die “weggeeboks”.

Die lekkerste deel kom ná die groot skoonmaak, dis nou wanneer die verfkwas nader getrek word. Want kyk: Niks doen ’n mens se siel so goed soos ’n verandering nie – a change is as good as a holiday.

Met ’n paar nuwe teëls, ’n blik verf en hope inspirasie kry ’n ou vertrek vinnig nuwe lewe.

Sukkel jy met keuses of voel jy nie soos ’n natural as dit kom by interieurontwerp nie?

Trek dan net ’n ou stoel oor of ruil die dekor van jou slaapkamer met jou sitkamer s’n om. Jy sal sommer self verbaas staan oor hoe ’n skuif hier en daar nuwe lewe in jou huis blaas. Of verf net iets – daar’s niks wat ’n leksel verf nie kan regmaak nie.

So aan die vooraand van 2022 hoop ek jou oë is blink van lus vir die nuwe jaar. Kyk net op en sien die helder blou lug daar buite, dis immers ons tema vir die maand: Bright Skies (Dulux se Kleur van 2022).

Dear Reader

I have always been in favour of spring cleaning... There comes a time every year for sorting, clearing, decluttering and turfing out stuff. And mind you don’t get in the way, or you could land in the gift-it-on box!

The best fun comes after the big clean-up, when the paintbrushes are lined up. Because, you see, a change is as good as a holiday and tweaking your decor feeds the soul.

With a few new tiles, a tin of paint and tons of inspiration, a tired space soon looks spruced up.

Do you struggle with choices, or do you feel out of your depth when it comes to interior design?

Then at least re-do an old chair or swap the lounge and the bedroom décor around. You will be amazed how changes here and there bring new life to your home. Or paint something – fresh paint has a wonderful way of instilling new life.

So, as we tackle a new year, I hope your eyes are bright with anticipation. Look up at the clear blue sky out there and remember our theme for the month: Bright Skies (Dulux’s Colour of the Year 2022).
