You can create a Private Space
You can create a Private Space
Dear Reader
We all need some space to ourselves every now and then, a place where we can switch off, tune out and refocus. Perhaps your private spot is where you play your instrument, or curl up on the couch with an iPad, or settle in front of your easel… that corner of choice where you can be yourself. If you have never had the luxury of your own special spot, perhaps now is the time to create a private hygge area. (Read our 2020 hygge article on our website: https://housefindernam.com/post/hygge-hear-it-from-the-danes.)Ideally, homes should be designed taking this need of its occupants into account, but that is not always so. Thankfully with a bit of design savvy we are able to create a spot that does it for us, even if it is only a huge cushion in the shade of some outside plant.
I have always been fond of white – I am not one for colourful eastern decor – no, preferably clean minimalistic lines dotted with plants. Here in my white kitchen, in front of my gas stove, I am able to enjoy myself to heart’s content by baking rusks or simmering a chilli stew.
These days people can use smart home technology to close blinds and create softly-lit private corners using their phones via wifi. But even a regular, old-fashioned room divider can do the trick: an old bookcase, a plant or an ornament or two. Voilà! You CAN create a private spot in your home.
Moenie toelaat dat winter en ‘n droë seisoen jou vreugde steel nie. Skakel bietjie af, kry jou eie plekkie, doen jou ding en wees jy net JY!
KEEP IN MIND:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 (NIV)
