Slow living is a lifestyle

Slow living is a lifestyle

Liewe Leser

Ek was nog altyd so bietjie van ’n swart-en-wit mens. Dis reg of dis weg, no two stories.

Rigied… ’n Ding moet sus of so gedoen word.

Slow living is a lifestyle which encourages a slower approach to all aspects of everyday life, involving completing tasks at a leisurely pace. (Wikipedia).

Dear Reader

I’ve always been a bit of a black and white person. For me, grey areas do not really exist. It’s either right or wrong, no two stories.
The one benefit of this life view is that people ALWAYS know where they stand with you. The downside, however, is that you may sometimes be too RIGID.

Rigid… A thing must be done just so. Life is short. Do what you need to do and do it quickly and correctly. But wait, the other day my sister Lindie pointed out a new trend to me. They call it slow living. I started researching and was amazed at the number of YouTubers making videos about this.

Slow living is a lifestyle which encourages a slower approach to all aspects of everyday life, involving completing tasks at a leisurely pace, according to Wikipedia.

If you look at what’s going on in the world: We hear of wars and rumours of wars, pests and pestilences (and pandemics) and people with stunningly strange ideas. That is when the concept of slow living within the rat race starts making sense.

Maybe it’s a good idea to slow down a bit, to allow a little grey in our lives. Because what is grey really? A wonderful mixture of white and black – a harmony of integration.

Our Theme: Ebony and Ivory

On the face of it, our theme is about a hard, dark, sought-after wood and the nearly white tusks of the elephant. Icons of the natural world, enjoyed over the centuries by mankind to the point of near extinction.

The colours black and white are the mainstay of elegant design. Are you old enough to remember the Black and White Whiskey ad from the 1970s? Choose the right colours for the occasion. Remember the two Scottish Terriers posing for that advert?

You just can’t go wrong with monochrome.

KEEP IN MIND:
“The second (commandment) is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:31 (NIV)
