Make installing a pool a special occasion

Make installing a pool a special occasion

The past months taught us that life can end so unexpectedly. This made me realize how very important it is to enjoy every part of life. Let’s take this a step closer to what we do: Pools, water features, jacuzzis, koi ponds – each and every project is special and enjoyable to us.

If you are looking for something to hold water, in which you can cool down, there are so many options. Problem is that this attitude will, at best, only give you a pool and also headaches if you don’t have the same mindset as the contractor you chose. His perception of what you want is often completely different to what you had in mind. Let’s face it, you do not install a pool every day, so how would you as prospective client know the endless list of things that can go wrong when choosing the wrong installer?

Some of our nicest projects at LIC Pool, are projects where the owner wanted something special. Building something special does not need to be expensive. What it does mean is: The owner works with our office team on the execution of the pool design. This means regular evaluation of the finest detail of the work, drinking coffee and meeting after hours. Despite our best efforts, things do not always go as planned. When the owner is involved, he/she realizes the operational challenges of delivering something special in Namibia. In all the cases these owners walk away with statement pools, and we walk away with new friends. In the past years, Lic Pool Center won more than 8 awards at the National Pool and Spa Institute (NSPI) prestigious pool builder competitions in South Africa. We are currently the only Namibian company entering pools and winning awards in this tough competition.

Tips from LIC Pool experts before you install your pool:

  1. Ask your proposed pool installer for a list of references of recent happy clients.
  2. Go for a smaller pool and leave funds for better quality copings (that protective lip on the edge), mosaics and lights.
  3. Mark the pool position very accurately.
  4. Ask your installer to give you a 3D-computer drawing of what the final product will look like.
  5. Do not spoil your pool by adding a pool cover which is characterized by a visible roll-up station.
  6. Correctly position the right type of lights. Less is more.
  7. Ask your installer to name possible problems that may lead to frustration. This helps for better planning. From the removing of rubble, right through to working after hours, and noise pollution.
  8. Get a written guarantee for the work to be done.
