Maximalism: Bold & Expressive
Maximalism: Bold & Expressive
Dear Reader
From early on, people start to form ideas about what they like and don’t like. This natural instinct applies to sports, music, eating habits and, of course, also to homes and décor. If you love vibrant, organized chaos you might be more of a maximalist, but if you prefer natural colour palettes and functional furniture, you’re probably more of a minimalist.
Maximalism fits so well in winter, don’t you agree? Do you like Scandinavian furniture – and a hygge atmosphere? (Like the soft throws, a candle by the bath and the burning fireplace in winter.) It’s definitely minimalist. But add to this rich colours, layers of textures plus bohemian flair – pure maximalist! Why have only one candle by the bath when you can use a grouping of small, large, white, gold and silver chandeliers?
Do you like to collect things that you love? Do you display them in your home? In doing so, you embrace your individuality and express your personality in your living spaces. Unpack them, hang them, show them to the world! Do it with passion, creativity and élan – that’s how maximalism is embodied in your space.
Maximalism and minimalism are a lot like music: Where minimalism is a single jazz instrument playing, maximalism is the whole orchestra performing zealously in harmony.
So when it comes to your home or space, you don’t have to whisper – you can sing your heart out!
Liewe Leser
Maksimalisme pas vir my tog so lekker by die winter in!
Versamel jy graag goed waarvoor jy lief is?
OUR THEME: MAXIMALISM: BOLD & EXPRESSIVE
Superlative, transcending the ordinary: that is maximalism. What’s in a name? When architecture, décor or personality traits surpass everyday uniformity and yell Unique Individual! that could be called living life to the max. Why would anyone want to do that? Because it feels good. Your happy hormones are bouncing about to their own tune. It is a sublime feeling, knowing that you have found your niche on life’s spectrum – no matter whether you lean to less or more. Just be the best you.
KEEP IN MIND:
Luke 12:25-26
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (The Bible – NIV.)
