Maximum sparkle

Almost every year in September, we get calls from nervous clients who opened their pools for the first time in months, only to find them in a state. To make matters worse, it is Tuesday and there is a party for the kids this coming Friday…

To get your pool sparkling as quickly as possible, it is necessary to do the following:

• Do NOT put a quick-fix product into the pool. One of our customers last year had to drain his pool completely to get rid of the wrong product.
• Start by doing a backwash to clean the filter. Using the pool brush, scrub the inside of the pool to loosen all dirt.
• Test the pool water to determine the chlorine level and PH balance of the water. Add chlorine during late afternoon or in the evening.
• Ensure the pump and skimmer baskets contain no leaves, to ensure maximum water flow.Add liquid acid by pouring it evenly throughout the pool.
• Keep the pool cover off during the evening, after chemicals have been added, to allow gasses to escape.
• Remove the suction lid inside the skimmer box of the pool. (This allows better water flow for quicker filtration). Set the pool timer in order for the pool pump to run 24 hours per day.
• Repeat all the above steps after 24 hours.
• After 48 hours you can add a decent flocculent like “Bioguard’s Sparkle Up”, available from the LIC shop. Please follow the instructions on the bottle and do not just chuck all the contents of the bottle into the water! In the event of the pool not clearingup, bring a water sample to LIC pool for testing.

Remember you may NOT fill your pool using municipal water, but if you have an Eco Smart Nam grey water system, installed by LIC, you can use this cleaned recycled water to fill the pool for years to come.
