Modern contemporary look with Scandinavian elements in your home
Modern contemporary look with Scandinavian elements in your home
THE PROJECTOur client, who resides in Windhoek, requested that his new house be renovated. Ultimately, he needs our assistance in decorating and styling his property.
However, he required 3D renderings of the whole property before making any major decisions.
We focus on the living area, kitchen & dining area for this issue of HouseFinder.
The Style: Modern contemporary | Scandinavian design elements

Before
REQUIREMENTS:
- Work mainly with his favourite colour, grey.
- Repaint all the rooms.
- Install an air-con in the living room.
- Retile the whole house.
- Have curtains made and hung in the living room.
- Incorporate his existing brown leather couch.
- Create a dining area & make sure there is space for books in the house.
- Suggest carpets, as well as new lights in the dining space & kitchen area.
SOLUTION:
I decided to stay within a neutral colour palette with minimalistic décor elements. The aim was to create a space for the client & his family that provokes a feeling of calm.
- We installed sleek and functional tiles:
- Kitchen back splash: New tiles (60 x 60 cm).
- All floor tiles replaced with 120 x 60 cm light grey tiles. - We installed an air-con in the living area and used a local professional to make the curtains. (Nuuk Wheat textured block out curtains & light sheer curtains - double rod).
- New furniture pieces have been added, also incorporating wooden elements.
- The builder installed brand-new lights for the dining- and kitchen areas and removed the ceiling fan.
- The kitchen island was moved to create space for the dining room table.
- We incorporated the client’s own bookshelf and his brand-new, bold, contemporary painting.
- New carpets from Hertex added a finishing touch.
