SOLUTION
LIVING AREA:
- The wall colour is softened and is now more cohesive with the dining area.
- The TV wall becomes the focal point by applying a textured wallpaper.
- A large, stylish rug from Hertex brings warmth and colour contrast.
- A botanical-themed artwork lightens up the blank wall space.
- To add personality to the space, a bar area, accessories, and indoor plants are added.
DINING AREA:
- Walls are repainted in a warm neutral (Stoney Point) from Duram & the accent wall with Duram’s Sani Pass to add depth.
- Furniture pieces are modernized as follows: new burnt orange mid-century style dining chairs, lighter wood table, and modern buffet cabinets.
- A modern pendant light fixture replaces the chandelier, enhancing the contemporary style.
- Artwork and accessories: Newly curated gallery walls with botanical and modern art, clocks, mirrors, and décor pieces. These can also be replaced with family pictures.
- A stylish green patterned rug from Hertex adds character to the room.
- Curtains on double rods are suggested, which give an atmosphere of fullness and warmth.

HOW TO CREATE
A modern contemporary look with Mid-Century influences in your home
Colour palette – Neutral base with earthy accents like burnt orange, olive green, mustard, and walnut brown.
Furniture – Sleek, functional pieces with clean lines; tapered wooden legs, low-profile sofas, and geometric shapes. Use a mix of natural wood and soft upholstery.
Materials & textures – Combine wood, leather, glass, and textured fabrics. Add visual depth with velvet cushions, woven baskets, and ceramic accents.
Lighting – Use bold pendant lights or retro-inspired chandeliers. Incorporate floor lamps with brass or matte black finishes. Keep lighting warm and ambient.
Minimalist décor – Choose intentional pieces: framed botanical prints, abstract art, vintage clocks, and simple sculptural decor. Avoid clutter.
Greenery – Use tall indoor plants like fiddle-leaf figs or snake plants in modern planters. Add natural accents like wood frames or terra cotta pots.
Flooring – Light or medium-toned wood or wood-look flooring. Anchor spaces with patterned area rugs in geometric or retro-inspired designs.
Timeless comfort – Add cozy touches like textured throws, tufted cushions, and mid-century chairs for both style and relaxation.
