For me, that is the number one factor about homemaking – make your home YOURS. The best interiors make you feel calm, inspired and at home.

However, we live in a time where “wars and rumours of wars” are the order of the day. Humanity feels anything but calm and inspired! Most people live in a state of constant anxiety. One example: At this time there are approximately 10 million cancer deaths per year, with some 20 million people currently living with cancer.

There are certain things in this life that we simply cannot do anything about… But let’s make a difference where we can: Make your home a haven for your family and relatives – a place where people find rest and where we can support each other. Make your house a true home.

Die meeste mense leef in ’n toestand van konstante angs. Kankersterftes het erg toegeneem: Ongeveer 10 miljoen kankersterftes per jaar, met ongeveer 20 miljoen mense wat tans aan kanker ly. Aan sekere goed in hierdie lewe kan jy net mooi niks doen nie… Maar maak dan ’n verskil waar jy wel kan: Maak jou huis ’n hawe vir jou gesin en familie – ’n plek waar mense rus vind en waar ons mekaar kan ondersteun. Maak jou huis ’n ware tuiste.

Warmth can be welcoming... or just plain hot. When imagining a warm interior created by the Modern Craft style, let us not confuse it with our hot Namibian summers. It is warmth as in welcome, as in happy place, a link to things natural and wholesome. It is a décor style that helps us feel rooted and real in a society surrounded by deceit. Wood or stone connects us on a spiritual plain to the trees and soil – making it easy to understand why the omumborombonga tree is sacred to the Herero tribe.
