Spa Design with Dulux Wild Wonder™

The project
Our clients plan to open a spa, a place of calmness and relaxation for their customers. But what does the dictionary define a spa to be?
Spa - a place where people can stay to improve their appearance or health by eating well, exercising and sometimes also by drinking or bathing in water with natural substances in it. (Cambridge Dictionary)



Requirements
The purpose of our clients’ spa is to engage the visitor and stimulate their senses. When designing a brand-new spa, the following are essential to keep in mind:

• Create a dramatic entrance; it attracts visitors and yields more walk-in visitors.
• Use bright colours with fading tones.
• Build large windows to allow sunlight and air to pass through the expanse.
• Select different lights for areas with different functions.
• Incorporate lush green leaves, flowing calm water, or woods which always bring pleasure to one’s eye.

Solution
I designed a large entrance with extra-size windows, combining natural colours and brightness. The pool area called for big windows and uncluttered spaces.

Nature is present throughout and provides a sense of relaxation in all areas (Note the coffee table design in the reception area).
Plants are incorporated everywhere as well as flowing waterfalls in the foyer.

Dim, warmer lights are used in the massage rooms but brighter lights at the pool and reception area.
