Tips and Design Ideas for Music Room

Our client, a male (50) residing in Swakopmund, requests that his storeroom, attached to his double garage, be converted into a music room/office. Currently the room has its own garage door but is mainly used for storage. Although the room must be converted into the ideal “man-cave”, with a strong focus on musical instruments, a desk area must also be added.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Remove the current toilet and garage door.
• Install sound-absorbing wall panels.
• Make provision for sufficient lighting for reading musical notes and doing office work.
• Make provision for a desk area, space for DJ equipment as well as for a computer, extra screens and a printer.
• Install speakers.
• Exhibit area: Space needed to display a Titanic made from Lego which is 1.4 m long. Add more shelves (at least 550 mm deep) for other Lego collectibles.
• Carpets are a must.

SOLUTION:
This design for a music enthusiast is a mix of modern and mid-century modern elements to create a tailored workspace that integrates technology. The space has a neutral, earthy palette with accents of blue and pops of colour (such as a red guitar).

• Wall panels: Install WoodUpp™ Akupanel (Copper Oxide) along with the geometric Fliptile carpet from Belgotex to give a warm, natural feel to the space.
• Install a window where the garage door has been removed.
