Top Interior Solutions for Windhoek House Built in 70’s
THE PROJECT:For this issue we tackled a house built in the 70’s, and renovated the living space in the theme “Inspiration from Nature & Art.” Modern-Boho was an obvious interior style I chose to portray the theme in this project whilst using natural colours and a splash of green.
Before
After
REQUIREMENTS:
- Make provision for both dining and living areas in the space.
- No structural changes can be made, except for replacing light fixtures.
- Add modern furniture along with nature-inspired art/décor pieces.
- Keep the existing floor tiles.
- Remove the old-fashioned shelves from the wall and repaint.
- Suggest furniture pieces.
SOLUTION:
- The 2 chandeliers were removed to add modern downlights.
- The fixed shelving on the wall was removed, then the Hertex wallpaper (Eastern Eclipse) was added to create the striking focal point on which the TV was mounted. On both sides of the focal point, the wood-like wall cladding emphasises the natural look.
- The walls were repainted in the Dulux EasyCare range. Colour: Morning Orchid.
- Two other products from Hertex have been incorporated i.e. the Boulder Stool (Diesel Forest colour) and the Chanel Swivel Dining Chair. (Readers can purchase these from Spectiles by Megabuild.)
- Other pieces added included: rattan chairs, a rug made from natural grasses, a flower-inspired lamp & paintings with nature settings.
- Finally we hung soft, white voile curtains to let natural light into the room.
