Water… nature’s chameleon

Water… nature’s chameleon

Most of us know how a chameleon can change its colours depending on its mood, or where it is hiding. Well, let’s be honest… water is the same. As humans we put water in a container and we call it a “swimming pool”. The appearance and colour of that water inside that pool depend on a vast array of factors. Tourists flock to Namibia from all over the world to come and see Namibian nature. Beautiful landscapes or waterscapes are always inspiring to all people.

To make water appear beautiful inside a man-made pool, we need to look at nature and use its colour elements in the thinking process when building a pool and showcasing the water. Depending on how one presents water inside a swimming pool, it can either seem artificial or be so striking that words fail to describe it.

Let’s look at a few pointers:

Concrete was once the primary surfacing used around pools. If you prefer a high-end custom pool design, try the technique of material combination. Think sleek glass tiles that shimmer under the sun combined with natural stone finishes with an earthy, grounded feel. Wooden accents in the seating areas create a sophisticated and warm ambiance that extends to the pool area. When combining various materials, stick to earthy tones and natural elements. This design is all about creating a serene escape without leaving the comfort of your home. Remember to choose the same materials for pool and spa to ensure the components blend together. Matching stone, tile, or concrete for all elements will exude elegance and create a high-end aesthetic. The right plants alongside the water, whether in pots or beds, will bring a green element to the scene, tying the natural look together.

When night falls, we need the correct lights to showcase the water in the pool. There are numerous different types of pool lights, from “el chepo”, to proper high resolution lights. Using big lights, small lights or strip lights depends on where they are positioned. All of these small things bring colour to our canvas and if correctly used, make for something beautiful. Lastly the colour of the pool itself can either make the water appear dull or refreshing. Speak to us at LicPool. Let’s work with you to present nature’s best at your home.

Until next time.
