Wooden frame to spruce up a corner
Wooden frame to spruce up a corner
What a fabulous idea to use some items from nature and bring them into your home by creating your own work of art! Just ensure that your items are not some insect or bird’s home, as we need to protect nature at all times. Rather purchase items from a local craft store and lead by example. This is something that anyone can do, you need not be an artist and children can join in the fun.
SUPPLIES
- Wooden box frame or tray (I made one from wood I had.)
- Paint and paintbrush
- Glue gun and glue sticks
- Embellishments from nature such as pebbles, rocks, shells, driftwood. (I bought mine at a nautical store; please don't remove natural items from beaches as they play a role in stabilising the shore.)
Step 1
Apply two coats of paint to the wooden frame and let it dry completely.
(PVA is a good water-based choice, whereas enamel is more difficult to clean off your hands afterwards – you would need thinners.)
1a - Draw your shape (for example a circle) on a scrap piece of paper and practise your design. Alternatively, find a nice design online.
1b - You can now view your final design and move embellishments around until you are happy (without applying glue).
Step 2
Draw your shape (i.e. circle) on the wooden tray or box frame.
Glue embellishments in place on the wooden tray, by using a glue gun.
Final
Add hooks on the back if you wish to hang your frame.
