This is a yummy recipe that we make year-round. At Christmas time, spruce it up with a glazed fruit topping.
Line a 9 x 9 square baking pan
with wax paper, leaving a 5 cm overhang on opposite sides.
Mix the marshmallows and walnuts
in a large mixing bowl and set aside. Combine the condensed milk,
butter, and chocolate chips in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring
frequently until melted and smooth. Allow to cool for 5 minutes. Pour the chocolate mixture over
the marshmallow mixture and mix until thoroughly combined. Pour the mixture into the
prepared pan and smooth the top with a buttered spatula. Pile the glazed fruit over the
top while the chocolate mix is still warm.
Put the pan in the fridge for 2
hours or until set.
Using the wax paper overhang, lift
out of pan and place on a cutting board. With a sharp knife, cut into
bars, cleaning the knife blade between cuts.
I used 300 g of dark chocolate instead of 2 cups chocolate chips, it is less sweet and sets quicker and to a harder texture than chocolate chips.
