HOUSEFINDER SPECIAL EDITION - PIPF | MAY 202623THE OSONANyourOsonaupdateElectrical InfrastructureWastewater Treatment PlantPLDH, OPMC and Energy Utilities have entered into an agreement to construct a new, significantly upgraded water treatment facility by the end of 2026.The modern plant will be built on the far southwestern side of the highway, well away from current residential areas, ensuring minimal disruption to the community. Designed using a modular system, the facility can be expanded over time to meet Osona Village%u2019s future water needs. PAn unplanned power outage occurred on 28 March 2026 following severe weather that impacted the broader electrical network supplying Osona Village. Investigations revealed that a tree beneath a high voltage line could have contributed to a flashover. Once this was identified, clearance work was carried out to allow restoration efforts to proceed.During the same storm, NamPower confirmed that Okahandja and surrounding areas were affected by an unusually high concentration of lightning strikes. This resulted in permanent damage to critical infrastructure, including a minisub transformer and an underground electrical cable. Identifying the full extent of the damage required specialised equipment, expert knowledge and extensive testing and fault finding. Specialised teams worked continuously until electricity was fully restored to all affected areas, and their dedication and commitment are sincerely acknowledged. The restoration timeline was significantly reduced thanks to OPMC having a spare transformer available for emergency use. PManaging the Village to benefit allAt Energy Utilities, smart, scalable wastewater treatment (WWT) is our niche. Our system treats 1,000 m%u00b3/day of wastewater, able to expand modularly in 1,000 m%u00b3/day increments. We own, operate and maintain the system in an environmentally sustainable manner. The modular system grows together with the village, without additional financial & operational burdens on the community.
