24HOUSEFINDER SPECIAL EDITION - PIPF | MAY 2026AT OSONA VILLAGECOMFORT, SECURITY & AFFORDABILITYA conversation with Eunice KarigusBefore moving to Osona Village, Eunice Karigus had lived in the North only briefly, having previously been based in Windhoek. When she heard about Osona Village, the challenge of finding affordable housing in Windhoek prompted her to explore the options at Osona Village %u2014 ultimately leading her to purchase a home through Okamita Properties. What convinced you to buy a home in Osona Village?Okay, so number one, the difficulty of finding affordable housing in Windhoek. Also to find accommodation that was suitable for my son and I. And I guess just a little bit more (of what I was looking for), I found here compared to in Windhoek. What are the most important features you want in a home?Comfort, security and affordability. Definitely comfort. A priority, above all, was the security that I found here. And there is space - I do not have too many neighbours around me. Some of the features that I looked for in a home were definitely privacy. I found it to be within the size range that I was looking for.How would you describe the style of your home?It%u2019s modern. It%u2019s sleek. It%u2019s fit for me. The size honestly just fits a small-scale family such as mine. Yeah, it%u2019s honestly what I have dreamed of. To be in this home is peaceful, it%u2019s quiet. You get to hear the birds. It%u2019s just fit for a family that%u2019s trying to just, I guess, adapt to moving away from technology and the fast-paced world and just trying to get earthed and in tune with oneself. So, honestly, I received the peace. That%u2019s what I was looking for when I moved here and that%u2019s what I got. What do you normally do on a typical day?It would include coming back from work because I work in Windhoek. Then preparing meals for family, some playtime, reading for my baby. But on a weekend, it%u2019s a little bit more in-depth. At least I have a whole weekend of just playing with him outdoors because he is %u201coutdoorsy%u201d. So, that%u2019s what we love. I don%u2019t have to worry about anything else but just spending family time. How has homeownership in Osona impacted your family and your life?It has impacted my family immensely. As a young parent, the one thing that you always look for is, I guess, just security - in a sense that you want to have one home for your child to grow up in from baby to adulthood. What advice would you give somebody who is a first-time buyer?I would say you don%u2019t want to rent for life. It%u2019s something that you won%u2019t regret. Everyone that I%u2019ve seen, at least come visit me, is inspired. So, this is like a fresh start for a new family, a young family, or just anyone who wants to be independent. There%u2019s a day-to-day buzz and security and all that. There%u2019s so much we%u2019re dealing with on a daily basis. So think of it as your home being your little haven and everything else is completely shut off. And that%u2019s what Osona does for me and my family. We don%u2019t have to worry about anything else because this is a little heaven for us. What does Osona Village offer for pastime?Children can freely play in the yard. The street I'm in is safe, it's secure, it's a culde-sac. What I love doing with my baby is that we can take walks in his little stroller and we don't have to worry again about anything else. When I have my little niece coming through, who is like a nine-yearold, we can go to the park. And yeah, there's a lot of outdoor activities that your normal complexes wouldn't offer. And your baby can sleep peacefully without interferences, no noise and all.I see Osona Village evolving, I would say expanding. There is definitely a demand, and I see a lot offered here that is not offered in the city. So, I see it expanding, that's for sure. P
